Dakota City, IA – The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors is approving a quote for automatic vehicle location equip.

As previously reported by KHBT the board along with County Engineer Ben Loots have been in discussion on providing AVL equipment for the county’s secondary roads department. During recent meeting they discussed a couple of options and equipment needed.

During the most recent meeting of the supervisors on Monday, Oct. 5, they approved a quote from One Step. The equipment that the county will be looking to acquire includes tracking and monitoring devices so that all their vehicles can be accounted for at any given moment in case the needs arises. Additionally the routes and driving pattern will be kept in data storage in case they would need to recall it. The primary example used by Loots would be to check snow plowing routes during the winter.

On advantage that One Step has is there is no annual contract. If the county wishes to cancel their agreement with One Step all they would have to do is return their equipment. This provides the county with a low risk situation for the county.

The County approved the quote from One Step as present for an estimate of $553.50.
