Dakota City receives state grant for water facility upgrades

Dakota City, IA – Dakota City is getting a grant from the state to help fund the upgrades for their Water Treatment Facility.

City Clerk for Dakota City Angelique Berry shares the news with KHBT that the city has been awarded a $100,000 grant towards the upgrades at the facility. She shares the details of the grant with KHBT.

In total Governor Kim Reynolds awarded $2 million in grant funding across eleven Iowa communities. These grants are part of the Wastewater and Drinking Water Treatment Financial Assistance Program.

As previously reported by KHBT Dakota City currently has a contract for this project that is underway with Baker Mechanical. The total cost of the contract is for $744,373. The city has already received a $300,000 Community Development Block Grant to help fund this project as well.

Dakota City was one of four communities to receive a $100,000 grant as part of the program. They are excited to have been selected for this funding opportunity.

Baker Mechanical has already begun their work on the project and filed a few pay vouchers with the city. They anticipate the project being concluded sometime in the second half of 2021.
