Humboldt, IA – Humboldt County Public Health is updating the public on COVID-19 vaccination Phase 1B plans.
Through a public notification on Jan. 21, Humboldt County Memorial Hospital CEO Michelle Sleiter and Public Health Director Joleen Sernett release more information on the local vaccination efforts.
They say that as of the release the county has received a total of 400 prime (first) doses and 300 second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. They have used 328 of the prime doses and started the second doses on Monday, Jan. 18. They have administered 109 of those second doses.
The Iowa Department of Public Health has begun updating their document and preparing the county for what Phase 1B will look like. Feb. 1 is the date that the county should be able to move into the next phase.
However, they are still waiting to hear the number of doses to be provided to Humboldt County. Until they know this number they are unable to determine how they are going to manage getting priority groups vaccinated as quickly as possible.
The county does not have a waiting list at this time due to the inability to manage such a list. They do believe they have the ability to communicate quickly and widespread to ensure all county resident meeting the requirement for a vaccine will know in advance how this is going to work.
HCMH and Humboldt County Public Health understands how frustrating and concerning the situation is but are doing everything they can with the information they have. They thank the community for their ongoing support and patience going forward.
Additional information is expected to be release sometime next week.
