Three Humboldt boys named All-NCC

Humboldt, IA – Three Humboldt High School boys’ basketball players make it on the All-Conference list.

On Tuesday, March 9, the North Central Conference released their selections for first, second and third team All-Conference.

Humboldt Seniors Sam Fischer and Gabe Gidel were both named second team All-NCC.

Fischer led Humboldt by averaging 11.5 points per game and and seven rebounds a game (fifth in the NCC). He shot 50 percent from the field.

Gidel averaged 10 points a game, 5.5 rebounds a game and 2.2 assists per game. He shot 44.8 percent from the field and 37.9 percent from three point range. His 78.6 percent from the free throw line was a team high (minimum 20 attempts).

Junior Caden Matson was named third team All-NCC. Matson led the team averaging 3.4 assists per game while averaging 10.3 points and 4.8 rebounds. His 1.3 steals per game are also a team high.

As a team, Humboldt averaged 64.2 points a game which was top of the NCC and just 52.6 points against which was second fewest in the conference. They averaged 14.1 assists per game and 34.8 rebounds (both second in the conference).

Humboldt finished the season placing third in the North Central Conference with a 9-4 NCC record and 15-8 overall. They tied for the top of the Traditions Division with Algona with a 5-1 division record.
