Dakota City, IA – Humboldt and Pocahontas Counties are entering into a new agreement for a shared sanitarian.

During the meeting of the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors on Monday, April 12, they met once again with Anne Thompson from the Pocahontas County Health Department. She was there to present another draft of the 28E agreement to share her county’s sanitarian with Humboldt County.

As previously reported, Thompson met with the board during their meeting a week prior on April 5 to present the agreement. During that meeting the board requests three changes be made to the agreement.

This includes a cancellation of the previous agreement by agreeing to a new one, language on the hourly rate Humboldt County would be charged and removal of the “not to exceed budgeted amount by Humboldt County” clause.

Thompson returned with the final agreement with the requested changes.  The sanitarian will work in Humboldt County on an “as needed” basis not to exceed 20 hours a week. The cost to the county will be at $35.28 an hour plus mileage and other costs associated with the work done.

The board agreed to the new agreement which will go into effect July 1, 2021. It will expire June 30, 2022 if not renewed before then.
