Dakota City, IA – The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors will be holding a public hearing to discuss a last second budget amendment.

On May 17, the board heard from County Engineer Ben Loots who requested the amendment to the fiscal year 2020-2021 budget. This is to accommodate some asphalt work that has begun in the county.

Loots says that Blacktop Service Company arrived last week to begin doing some planned repair work. However, he was anticipating them to beginning around September and October with the funds reflected in next fiscal year’s budget. Fort Dodge Asphalt as also began work on May 17 as well.

The funds used for the budget amendment will be coming from the Secondary Roads reserves account. The public hearing will be set for June 1, which is the only day they can hold the hearing due to publication requirements and the Department of Transportation’s timeline for budget amendments.

The supervisors approved the hearing to be held on Tuesday, June 1, at 8:35 am unanimously.
