Humboldt County, IA – During graduation party season the Humboldt County Law Enforcement center reminds the public of newly established penalties for underage drinking.

As previously reported, Humboldt County passed Ordinance No. 73 on January 25. The social hosting ordinance says that local law enforcement can penalize hosts of social events where alcohol is consumed by those ages 18 to 20 years old. The state law only covered those under the age of 18.

The LEC reminds the public they will investigate all reports of underage consumption at parties and will take a zero tolerance stance to violations. The fine for first time offenders is $750 with a second or subsequent offenses being $1,000 fines.

Local law enforcement encourages adults or someone who has control over a property to please not allow or condone any use of their property to host an underage party.
