McIntire’s hat trick advances Humboldt girls’ soccer to the next round

Humboldt, IA – On Monday, May 24, Humboldt High School girls’ soccer beat Belmond-Klemme 3-0 to advance in the Class 1A, Region 4 bracket.

The first goal scored by freshman Ava McIntire came in the 14th minute of the game. She would help Humboldt get on top 2-0 at the halftime break by scoring again in the 38th minute.

Belmond-Klemme got more aggressive in the second half but Humboldt weathered all storms. McIntire completed a hat trick in the 66th minute to solidify the Wildcat victory.

As a team, Humboldt reports taking 28 shots, 15 of which were on goal. McIntire and Yuli Orana both had five shots with three on goal apiece.

Humboldt Goalie Maria Elizondo played all 80 minutes of the game in goal. She made five saves in the shut out.

With the win Humboldt improves their record to 5-12 this season. Ava McIntire was named Player of the Game by KHBT as part of the broadcast coverage.

Humboldt’s next game will be Wednesday, May 26, at Cadet Field against Iowa Falls-Alden. Match time is scheduled for 6 pm.
