Humboldt, IA – St. Mary School in Humboldt’s new principal is looking forward to building relationships as she takes on her new role.

Sara Bormann has been announced as the new principal at the catholic grade school in Humboldt. Bormann is a native of Clare and has been a teacher at St. Mary Catholic School for the past six years.

Bormann says she is “excited” and “honored” to be the next principal and has two main goals she looks to accomplish in the next year. “Right now at St. Mary’s we have had a really exciting year with all the renovations happening.”

Now the goal for the new principal becomes getting everyone under one roof. This includes help the teachers and students alike get settled in to new spaces. This can go hand-in-hand with her second main goal of building relationships.

Bormann says that building those strong relationships is the corner stone to her educational philosophy. In the catholic school this relationship starts first with Christ. Then the relationships branch out to the students, staff and teachers of the school and to the community.

“And then once you’ve build those really strong relationships, everything kind of flows from that,” says the principal.

Building those relationships and being involved in many different areas at the school is what the Bormann is looking forward to the most as the new principal. She says “it’ll we very different from a classroom”  bound teacher.

She is excited to get the opportunity to help the teachers and students. The plan is to be available to help in any way she can. She says this is the “best way” she knows how to lead the school.

Bormann has a degree in Elementary Education from Buena Vista University and a master’s from Creighton University in Educational Leadership.  Bormann has a previous tenure at St. Mary’s as her first teaching job and she has taught at St. Edmond in Fort Dodge as well.

Bormann will official step into the roll as principal at St. Mary Catholic School in Humboldt on July 1.
