Dakota City, IA – The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office will be giving county employees active shooter training in the near future.

During the meeting of the county’s board of supervisors on June 14, Chief Deputy Corey Lampe came to discuss the training with the supervisors. He says that he and Deputy Andrew Shillington are certified trainers.

The chief deputy says it has been about four or five years since the county employees last received active shooter training. He says over this time there are new employees but it is also not a bad idea to refresh the training with all employees.

The training is a power point presentation that is expected to last about an one hour and 20 minutes. They plan to host two identical training sessions for court house employees so the offices can remain open while half the staff attends one or the other. They will also provide training for the Secondary Roads employees.

The supervisors thanked Chief Deputy Lampe for providing the update and future training. They were also invited to attend if they wanted.
