Humboldt baseball falls to Roland-Story

Story City, IA – On Thursday, June 24, Humboldt baseball fell on the road, 9-1, to Roland-Story.

The Roland-Story Norsemen took the early lead in the bottom of the third inning. The second and third innings would go scoreless for both teams.

Humboldt was able to get their lone run of the game in the top of the fourth inning. It was scored by Joshua Thurm and it was unearned.

Roland-Story was able to add two runs to their lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. The final four runs for the Norsemen came in the sixth inning.

Hayden Holm was the starting pitcher for Humboldt. He went five and one-third innings, giving up nine hits, eight earned runs, three walk and a hit batter. He struck out one.

Nolan Faber was the starting pitcher for Roland-Story. He pitched the complete game, giving up six hits and one walk. He struck out nine batters.

Cade Witzke and Travor Jacobson were both 2-3 in their at bats. Jacobson had a double as Humboldt’s only extra base hit.

Their next game will be on Saturday, June 26, against Newell-Fonda. It will be the first game of a tournament hosted in Estherville that will begin at 11:30 am.
