Humboldt baseball falls to IFA

Iowa Falls, IA – On Wednesday, June 30, Humboldt baseball lost to Iowa Falls-Alden 5-2 on the road.

Both teams went scoreless in the first inning. Iowa Falls was able to score first with two in the bottom of the second inning.

After a scoreless third, Humboldt cut the lead in half in the top of the fourth. After a scoreless fifth inning, IFA led 2-1.

Iowa Falls built their lead by scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Humboldt fell short of a comeback, only scoring one in the top of the seventh inning.

Cade Witzke pitched the complete game for Humboldt. He gave up 10 hits and five earned runs. He struck out four IFA batters.

Gunnar Stalzer pitched the complete game for Iowa Falls-Alden. He gave up six hits, four hit batters, two earned runs and a walk. He struck out six in the win.

Caden Matson led Humboldt by going 1-3 at the plate with a solo home run and he was hit by a pitch. Hayden Holm was 1-3 as well with an RBI.

Humboldt’s record is now 15-7 this season and 7-3 in the North Central Conferece.

Their next game will be Thursday, July 1, at home against Nevada. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 pm, following a JV game.
