Humboldt, IA – Humboldt County Public Health is donating a sign from their mass COVID-19 vaccination clinics to the state museum.
Director of Community Development at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Mardi Ratzlaff says that State Curator at the State Historic Museum Leo Landis contacted her on May 3. The email says that an acquaintance of Landis’s from Ankeny came to Humboldt to get their vaccine.
While receiving their vaccine, the acquaintance took a picture of the sign Humboldt County Public Health displayed. They then posted it on social media:
Landis says he was able to get his vaccinations closer to Des Moines but he appreciates what everyone in Humboldt County did to be among the first counties to make shots available to any eligible Iowan.
On Friday, July 11, Ratzlaff, Humboldt County’s Director of Public Health Joleen Sernett and HCMH Patient Experience Coordinator Allison Angstrom drove down to Des Moines to donate the sign and other pandemic related items.
These items will be displayed in the museum when they tell the story of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
