Mid-year infrastructure work winding down in Humboldt

Humboldt, IA – Summer road and water main work is coming to a close in the city of Humboldt.

During the meeting of the Humboldt City Council on July 6, council was given an update on projects that had been occurring during the spring in summer month. This includes the Highway 169 Water Main project and 2020 Roadway System Improvement project.

As previously reported, Brian Nettleton Excavating was doing two water main projects in Humboldt. Both projects, Hwy 169 and 16th Avenue North, are mainly complete with only a small list of items left to complete. There are no more planned road closures for these projects.

Blacktop Service Company has only a small “punch list” of items left for the 2020 Roadway System Improvement project. There is also sub-work, such as cutting out a few manholes that will be completed by other parties related to this project.

Blacktop Service will also wrapping up their list of patch work that the city gives them every spring. This is mainly areas were the streets had to be cut into for a variety for reasons such as main breaks or other work.

Council approved three pay applications related to the work done to date.
