Humboldt man charged in burglary case

Humboldt, IA – A Humboldt man is being charged with burglary in the third degree following a Thursday evening arrest.

The Humboldt County Law Enforcement Center reports that during the morning Thursday, July 15, dispatch received a report of a possible intruder in a building along Highway 3. Upon arrival of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies, Cody Hanna, 27, of Humboldt, was found inside and in the process of committing a burglary.

Hanna was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Humboldt County Jail. He has been charged with burglary in the 3rd degree (class D felony), possession of burglary tools (aggravated misdemeanor), and two counts of criminal mischief in the fifth degree (simple misdemeanors).

Hanna will be held in the Humboldt County Jail until his initial appearance before the magistrate. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Humboldt Police Department.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation. All defendants should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
