Tractor pulls are full go in Rockwell

Rockwell, IA – The Rockwell Lions are once again putting on the North Iowa Nationals Championship Truck and Tractor Pulls.

Every year, the non-profit in Rockwell hosts the truck and tractor pull event as a fundraiser to help support their community. Chairman of the Tractor Pull Tim Nuehring says the Rockwell Lions spend a year preparing the event and there is truly something for everybody.

The committee that plans the pulls is made up of eleven members of the Rockwell Lions. The club as a whole is 50 members deep.

2021 North Iowa Nationals will feature 13 classes spread out across four sessions during the three day event. July 8-10 there will be evening sessions starting at 6 pm each day with a noon session the final day. Nuehring says there will be “something for everybody, for sure.”

The chairman says that beyond the main events they will have on-site camping and more events for those in attendance to enjoy. “We have open pits for the whole weekend, so come out and walk around and talk with the drivers, it’s an awesome time.”

July 9 and 10 they will have a breakfast available from 8-10 am that is served by the Sacred Heart Religious Education Program and is a free will donation. On July 10 they will also have the Kiddie pedal pull for age’s four to eleven.

Nuehring says that the funds they raise through the tractor pull is immediately put back into their community. Recently the Rockwell Lion’s club donated $250,000 to the local aquatic center. They also provide scholarships to the high school.

The Rockwell Lions also donate to their public services like EMT and fire department. “Just the list goes on and on,” the chairman says. None of the organizations working the tractor pulls are making a profit, it all goes back into their community.
