Humboldt, IA -Humboldt County Memorial Hospital is moving forward with plans of a new mental health therapy and counseling center at HCMH. HCMH Chief Executive Officer Michelle Sleiter says the center will be a 2 floor building with a 3,000 square foot addition for their mental health space on the 2nd floor and then have storage space in the basement of the building.   The therapy and counseling department at HCMH was established in 2019 and Sleiter says there has been considerable growth in the department, leading to the need to provide additional space for Mental Health and Counseling services, but the expansion will also help other departments at the hospital as well.

Sleiter says expanding mental health services at HCMH will help better serve patients in Humboldt and the surrounding area.

The new mental health therapy and counseling center will be situated between Springvale Independent and Assisted Living just west of the hospitals  materials management area. Sleiter gives a timeline of what the next steps in the project are.

The overall cost of the project is  estimated at $1 million.
