Humboldt, IA – At Monday’s Humboldt City Council Meeting, there was a discussion and action taken on police officer vacation carry-over. Humboldt Police Chief Joel Sanders explains that the Police Department is not currently fully staffed and that has prompted change in police officer vacation policy.

To address the staffing concerns and to make sure Officers have enough time to use their vacation time Sanders asked the City Council on Monday to carry over police officer vacation to June 30th, and the Council unanimously agreed to the proposal after some discussion. Sanders says the vacation carry over does not include the 2 personal days that officers are allotted a year and that those are use it or lose it.
