Ordinance requires notifying Sheriff’s office of open burning

Humboldt, IA -As previously reported, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors have passed an ordinance to coordinate fire protection in the unincorporated areas of Humboldt County. Humboldt County Sheriff Dean Kruger explains that it is required to notify the Humboldt County Sherriff’s Office in advance of any open burning.

Violation of the ordinance constitutes a simple misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine of at least $65 and not exceeding $625 and/or up to 30 days in jail.
