Humboldt, IA – Groundbreaking for the future Humboldt Veterans Memorial park took place today at 10:00 a.m. at Worthington Park in southern Humboldt.
Humboldt Veterans Memorial Association Spokesman Daryle Zweifel on the symbolic moment.
Humboldt Mayor Dan Scholl says the memorial will be a nice addition to honor veterans on the south side of town.
Cement for the foundation will be poured within the next few weeks. Approximately 1,500 names of veterans from Humboldt County who fought in wars dating back to the American Civil War will be honored in the memorial.
