Fort Dodge, IA – Two separate shootings and a stabbing in less than 24 hours have been reported in Fort Dodge, resulting in non-life threatening injuries.
The first shooting occurred Thursday night at 5:23 p.m. in the area of the 400 block of North 10th St. in Fort Dodge. Fort Dodge Police along with Webster County deputies arrived on scene and located a male that had suffered a single gunshot wound to the leg. Fort Dodge Fire arrived on scene and transported the man by ambulance to Unity Point-Trinity Regional Medical Center for further treatment. The injury sustained by the male is not believed to be life threatening.
The second shooting was in the overnight hours Friday at 4:06 a.m. at 1433 4th Ave. South in Fort Dodge. Officers with the Fort Dodge Police Department, deputies with the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, and Fort Dodge Fire responded. When officers arrived on scene, they located a male with a gunshot wound to the face inside the residence. Fort Dodge Fire transported the male by ambulance to Unity Point‐Trinity Regional Medical Center. The injury sustained by the male is not believed to be life threatening.
An arrest warrant in connection to the second shooting has been issued for 41-year-old Dontay B. Diekman of Fort Dodge for 1) Attempt to Commit Murder (Class B Felony), 2) Going Armed with Intent (Class D Felony), and 3) Possession of Firearm as Felon (Class D Felony).
Diekman is described as 5’6” tall and weighing approximately 220 pounds. Police say Diekman should be considered armed and dangerous. Webster County Crime Stoppers have decided to offer a $250.00 reward for information that leads to the arrest of Diekman.
Fort Dodge Police are also investigating after a man was stabbed Friday morning. At approximately 6:00 a.m. Friday, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call of a male with multiple stab wounds at 414 South 16th St. in Fort Dodge. Officers with the Fort Dodge Police Department responded to the scene and located a responsive male with multiple stab wounds to his waistline. The male was treated on scene by medics with the Fort Dodge Fire Department and transported to Unity Point‐Trinity Regional Hospital by ambulance. The injuries to the male are non‐life‐threatening.
After further investigation, the officers on scene believe the assault did not occur at 414 S 16th St. The exact location of the assault is unknown.
Fort Dodge Police say that both shootings and the stabbing incident are under investigation and it is not believed that they are connected.
