Humboldt, IA – Webster City erased two Humboldt leads Monday night to defeat the Wildcats 9-5 in a North Central Conference softball matchup.
Humboldt jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning before Webster City tied the game in the second. The Lynx took a 3-2 advantage in the third, but the Wildcats answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to regain the lead at 4-3.
Webster City tied the game again in the fourth before taking the lead for good with two runs in the fifth. The Lynx added three insurance runs over the final two innings to build a 9-4 lead before Humboldt scored once in the bottom of the seventh.
Adalee Nolting pitched a complete game for the Wildcats, allowing seven earned runs on 15 hits while striking out three, earning the loss.
Hayden Graff led Humboldt offensively, finishing 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Sadie Hubbell went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Gracie Lyon, Claire Deelman and Nolting each collected two hits.
The loss dropped Humboldt to 5-9 (3-5 NCC). The Wildcats return to action in at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge on Wednesday to face No. 5 (1A) St. Edmond. First pitch is at 7:30 p.m.
