Humboldt, IA – Humboldt residents should be on the lookout for new garbage carts beginning Monday morning (Aug. 24).
The City of Humboldt says delivery of the new 65 or 95-gallon garbage carts will begin Monday and continue throughout the week.
The new carts are part of the city’s transition to automated garbage collection. The first collection using the new carts will begin the week of August 31.
Residents should place their new cart at their normal collection location by their regular collection time. Collection days will remain the same. The new automated system will use a truck-mounted arm to lift and empty the carts, allowing sanitation workers to remain inside the cab.
The city’s monthly garbage and recycling rate is increasing by $6 to $20 per month, while garbage stickers will no longer be required.
