Humboldt, IA – The local Iowa State University Extension and Outreach office is encouraging those who might not have received their CARES stimulus check to follow through to avoid further delays.

According to a release from Extension and Outreach Sciences Specialist in Family Finance, Barb Wollan, it is not to late too late for eligible individuals to collect the Economic Impact Payment (EIP) stimulus check from the CARES act if they have not already received one. There are two steps eligible individuals can take to avoid further delays if they are completed by Oct. 15.

Wollan says the first step is checking eligibility. Most adults are eligible for a stimulus check if they have a social security number, are not claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return and have an income below the income guidelines.

The second step is to go online to IRS.gov and click on the “Get My Economic Impact Payment” tab. For those who have a tax filing requirement and have filed their 2019 taxes they will us the “Get My Payment” tool. The second tool is the “Non-Filers Tool” meant for those who do not need to file a tax return.

For those who have questions about eligibility or need assistance in the process the ISU Extension and Outreach team in Humboldt can help. Contact the local office at (515)332-2201 for more information or assistance.
