Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt Wildcats girls’ soccer team won 2-0 against Webster City Friday night at Mason Maach Field in Humboldt.

Kaylee Vinsand got the scoring started for Humboldt in the 7th minute with her team-leading 14th goal. Sadie Hubbell added her 4th goal of the year in the 13th minute to give Humboldt the 2-0 lead.

Humboldt Wildcats Head Girls’ Soccer Coach Rod Mooney on the win, “I thought our defensive focus was excellent tonight. We did a really good job of shutting down their best scorer, staying focused the whole time, and creating enough offense for ourselves on the other half. I thought we had some moments where we looked really pretty solid in the first half.”

The Wildcats improved to a record of 5-1-2 (5-0-2 NCC). The Humboldt girls’ are set to kick off a doubleheader on Monday against Hampton-Dumont/CAL at Mason Maach Field in Humboldt.

“We want to do a good job of getting out and being aggressive right away and then setting a tone,” Mooney said on the upcoming tilt. “We also want to make sure that we try to maintain possession of the ball most of the time in that game and push our defense up and hopefully create some offense that way.”

Kickoff for the girls’ match is at 5 p.m. with the boys’ match to follow at 7 p.m.
