Humboldt, IA – The cities of Humboldt and Dakota City will each hold their spring clean up days next week.
The City of Humboldt will hold its spring cleanup with junk drop-off available at 1000 Lewis Street next. Residents can bring their unwanted items on Wednesday, May 6 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, May 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The city says that small items that can fit into garbage bags are prohibited. Residents those dropping off appliances and electronics will need to purchase an appliance sticker at Humboldt City Hall for $10. This service is exclusively for Humboldt residents, who will need to be prepared to show ID. On Saturday May 9, a hazardous waste drop-off will be available from 8 a.m. to noon at the same location. Dakota City will kick off its city-wide cleanup on Monday, May 4 by offering a free junk pickup day. To participate, simply pile your junk or brush separately at the curbside by 8 a.m. If you have appliances or electronic equipment to dispose of, you can obtain a $10 sticker from Dakota City Hall.
