Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt Fourth of July Parade is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 4th, as organizers hope to make this year’s celebration one of the largest in recent memory while celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.
More than 60 entries have already registered, but parade coordinator Doug Vinsand says there’s still time for last-minute entries before lineup begins.
“Yeah, we’ve got over 60 entries right now, which is only about 10 or 15 short of what we had last year, so do still have plenty of time to get your entries in,” Vinsand said.
This year’s parade will honor all Humboldt County veterans as the collective Grand Marshals. Veterans planning to ride in the parade are asked to contact Dave Lee to reserve transportation.
“If you are interested in doing that, I’d please ask you to call VFW Commander Dave Lee to make sure you got your spot. You can call him at 515-890-0116,” Vinsand said.
Parade lineup begins at 5:30 p.m., with larger vehicles encouraged to arrive early. The parade committee is also offering a $500 cash prize for the most patriotic float in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Vinsand also thanked Paul Davis, Dave Lee and Bruce Reimers for helping organize transportation for veterans participating in this evening’s parade.
The Humboldt Fourth of July Parade will be broadcast live on KHBT-FM 97.7 The Bolt beginning at 7 p.m. Following the parade, the annual fireworks display will begin at 10 p.m. from the Humboldt County Fairgrounds. KHBT-FM will also broadcast patriotic music to accompany the fireworks show.
