The 60th Annual Holiday Craft Fair in Eagle Grove will be on Saturday, November 23rd from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Robert Blue Middle School 1015 NW 2nd in Eagle Grove. This event is sponsored by the Eagle Grove Chamber of Commerce and their shop will also be opened from 8 am to 4 pm. Make a day of it and visit Holiday Boutique by Sue White at the Senior Citizen’s Center at 310 Broadway and the Fall Vendor & Craft Fair at 220 Railroad Avenue. One day, four ways to get a jump on your holiday shopping.
The Humboldt County Pheasants Forever Annual Banquet is Saturday, November 23rd at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds. Doors open at 4:00 pm and a steak dinner will be served at 6:00 pm. Tickets are $50 at the door and include membership. There will be games and prizes. A cash bar will be available. This event is open to all.
Kiwanis Christmasland located south of Humboldt City Hall is open for the season on Friday, November 29 through December 24th. Evening hours are 6:30 to 8:30 pm and weekend hours are 2:30 to 4:30 and 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Christmasland will be closed on December 2nd thru the 4th and again on December 9th. This is a free attraction and donations are welcome. Call Dave Lee at 515-890-0116 to arrange a group tour.
The Annual Scandinavian Tea at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg will be held on Wednesday, December 4th from 1:00 to 3:30 pm. The event will feature Scandinavian foods and there will also be a bake sale. The cost is $7 for adults and $2 for children.
The Humboldt Area Arts Council presents the Tour of Homes on Sunday, December 8th from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. The tour includes 5 homes, a ginger bread man contest, soup while supplies last and drinks for purchase. The cost is $15 and will start at the Humboldt Area Arts Center in downtown Humboldt. Please check in early for this event.
The Humboldt 7 O’Clock Kiwanis is having their annual Spaghetti Supper on Monday, December 9th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased at V & S Variety or any member of the Humboldt 7 O’Clock Kiwanis.
The Girl Scouts Springvale Service Unit is having a Food Drive on Saturday, January 11th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Pantry items may be donated during these hours to HyVee and Fareway. Items in high need: Canned goods, toilet paper, shampoo/conditioner, laundry soap, deodorant, instant potatoes, peanut butter and monetary donations are always welcome! The Humboldt Lion’s Club is having their annual Soup Supper on Friday, February 7th. This year, the proceeds go to help fund the new ambulance at HCMH. They will be serving Chicken Noodle and Chili on Friday night February 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 under 12 years old. Get your tickets from any Lion’s member. Carry outs will be available.
