CHRISTMASLAND

Kiwanis Christmasland prepares to open for the holiday season Friday Nov. 25^th. This marks the 40^th year of this popular holiday attraction sponsored by the Humboldt/Dakota City Kiwanis Club. It has been visited by more that 150,000 people since its opening in 1982.

For 2022 there will be some new items and updates but lots of the traditional favorite scenes that people have come to know and enjoy year after year.
The Kiwanis club wants Christmasland to be a safe and fun experience for all.

Christmasland is located directly south of the Humboldt City Hall at 407 1^st Avenue South. It is one block south of the Humboldt Law Enforcement Center the one-half block east.

Kiwanis Christmasland will be open the following hours for the 2022 season:
Friday and Saturday November 25^th and 26^th – 2:30-4:30p.m. and 6:30-8:30p.m.
Sunday’s – 2:30-4:30p.m.
Friday’s – 6:30- 8:30p.m.
Saturday’s – 2:30-4:30p.m. and 6:30-8:30p.m.
Monday – Friday Dec. 19^th-23^rd 6:30-8:30p.m.
Thursday Dec. 22^nd – Dec. 24^th only 2:30-4:30p.m.

Christmasland will be closed for inclement weather. Notification will be posted outside and via the Humboldt-Dakota City Kiwanis Facebook page. The Kiwanis Club has never charged admission to Christmasland; however donations are appreciated as they help the exhibit grow.

Then at the end of the visit is Santa Claus he will give all good girls and boys a candy cane after their visit.

Christmasland will be open by arrangement for group tours. Call Dave Lee at (5150 890-0116 to schedule a day and a time. All school groups, nursing homes, group homes, church groups, businesses and civic organizations are welcome, but special arrangements are limited, so call ahead.

Live Nativity

Dec 4 @ 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm

You are invited to a LIVE NATIVITY on Sunday December 4th from 3:30-5:30pm at Dan & Dawn Parle residence at 2615 Lone Tree Road . The memory made will last a lifetime. Please come enjoy the fellowship of the season. Dress warm, the barn will be full of God’s Creations.

Humboldt-Dakota City Kiwanis Club Annual Spaghetti Supper

Dec 5 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

The Humboldt-Dakota City Kiwanis Club will be hosting their Annual Spaghetti Supper with garlic bread, serving begins at 5pm thru 7pm at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. DRIVE UP ONLY! Please enter from the North and Exit to the South. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased from any of the following: Northwest Bank, Bank Iowa, and First State Bank. As always, we greatly appreciate YOUR SUPPORT!

Holiday Light Contest

The Humboldt Recreation Department is having a Holiday Light Contest all eligible houses and businesses must be within Humboldt & Dakota City limits. Registration is Free and you can register online or at the Humboldt Recreation Center. All registrations are due by Monday, December 5^th. Winners will be announced on The Humboldt Recreation Facebook page on Tuesday Dec 20^th. Prizes will be awarded to 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place in each residential category and to 1^st place in the business category. For more information call Paxton at 332-5447

Annual Christmas Tree Walk at Humboldt Co. Historical Museum

Walk amongst the trees this year at the Annual Christmas Tree Walk in the Historic Hardy Church! Admission is a free will donation to the Humboldt County Historical Museum. The dates and times it will be open are as follows:

December 9th – 11th 5-8pm
December 16th 5-8pm
December 18th 5-8pm

2022 Tour of Homes

Dec 10 @ 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm

2022 Tour of Homes brought to you by the Humboldt Area Arts Council will be Saturday, Dec. 10^th from 2-5pm, with activities at Art Center till 7pm. Get your tickets at the Humboldt Arts center the day of the event, cost is $20 (one adult beverage included)

“Twas the Night Before Christmas” Open House

Dec 17 @ 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Saturday December 17^th 1-4pm or 5– 8pm, find out how the Browns celebrated Christmas Eve! Visitors can partake in a coloring contest and a story of “The Night Before Christmas” at 2pm, then meet Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus and more! The Historic Hardy Church will also be open for visitors to see the Christmas Trees and enjoy Christmas goodies in the church basement. Admission: Free Will Donation for the Museum.

Faith United Methodist Church Christmas Dinner

Dec 25 @ 11:30 am – 1:00 pm

Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt will be having a Christmas Dinner on Sunday December 25 from 11:30 – 1:00 dine in or take out. The meal will be Turkey, pork loin, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, cranberry relish, and desserts. This will be a Free Will donation, to sign up call the church office 515-332-2083 by Dec. 21^st.

Mobile Food Bank – Drive Thru

Jan 11 @ 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm

Mobile Food Bank Drive Thru will be at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds on Wednesday January 11^th, 2023, serving from 4:30 -6:00pm or until food is gone.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Food Pantry Drive

Jan 16 @ 8:00 am – 7:00 pm

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Humboldt County Democrats will hold a food drive to support the Humboldt County Food Pantry Monday, January 16.

Food drive collection will be 8am – 7pm at the Fareway Grocery Store in Humboldt. Shoppers are invited to donate non-perishable items.

Non-food items needed: shampoo, body wash, deodorant, dish soap, laundry soap, paper towels, toilet paper, all purpose cleaner.
Food items MOST needed: canned fruit, canned meat, jelly/jam, syrup, pancake mix.

The Humboldt County Food Pantry is operated by Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Inc.(UDMO). Cash donations will also be welcomed. 100% of donations will go to the food pantry.

If you can’t make it to the food drive, you may make a monetary donation to the Humboldt Ministerial Association write “Food Pantry” in the memo. Mail your donations to Humboldt Ministerial Association, PO Box 40, Humboldt IA 5548.
