Carol Johnson Benefit

There will be a benefit for Carol Johnson who is battling cancer, on March 7th from 11 to 1:00 pm at the Bode Community Center.  There will be a silent auction. Maid-rites, baked beans, chips and bars will be served for a free will donation.  Donations may also be sent to Carol Johnson Benefit, West Iowa Bank, PO Box 116, Bode, Iowa 50519.

Saint Mary’s Daddy Daughter Dance @ Saint Mary's Gymnasium

Please mark your calendars for the much anticipated Daddy-Daughter Dance to be held March 7th from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. in the St. Mary’s gymnasium. Tickets are $35 per couple and $10 for each additional child. The ticket includes a flower, appetizers, drinks, photo, door prizes, games and dancing. Tickets can be purchased at St. Mary School or Abens-Marty-Curran Agency.

Meals from the Heartland

Come be a part of the Humboldt County Meals from the Heartland millionth meal packaging event!  This event will take place on March 20th & March 21st at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.  Humboldt County Meals from the Heartland needs your help on packaging meals and donations. Dinner and Music Fundraiser

The Livermore  American Legion is holding a fundraiser to pay for the renovation  and maintenance of the historic Legion Hall in Livermore.  The Dinner and Music Fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, March 21st at the American Legion Hall in Livermore.  The evening includes a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings and live music.  Cost for this event is $15 per person.  Dinner will begin at 5:00 pm and music starts at 7:00.  FOr more information, and to purchase tickets, call Roger McNeill at 515-890-1984.

Cookies for a Cause

Cookies for a Cause is a fundraiser for the Humboldt Public Library Foundation and will feature the talents of the Humboldt High School Speech and Art Students. This free will donation event is scheduled for Sunday, March  22 at 2:00 pm at the Faith United Methodist Church.

Humboldt Care Centers “Love of Family” Parade

Humboldt Care Centers is planning a parade for their residents in the South Care Center, North Care Center and Long Term Care. The parade will take place on Thursday, April 30th at 1 pm. Anyone can decorate their cars and participate and the theme is “Love of Family”. Participants will meet at Humboldt High School parking lot to line up and start by going by South Care Center, go to North Care Center then to drive by Long Term Care.

June 26, 2020: LGBTQ Awareness and Pride Event @ Bicknell Park

June is National LGBTQ Pride Month. To raise awareness an events will be held Friday, June 26th 6:30pm-9:30pm in Bicknell Park. Masks and social distancing Covid precautions requested! Sanitizer and handwashing station available.

LGBTQ Awareness and Pride Event is supporting local businesses. T-shirts, magnets and coffee mugs are now available in main street businesses. Artists, floral and horticultural and other displays are planned for the event. Participants welcome. Call or text John 5 1 5 – 5 0 9- 2 4 4 7. The event will have a free-will donation to benefit the Iowa Safe School Chapter at Humboldt High School.

Moblie Food Pantry @ Humboldt Fairgrounds

Food Pantry is holding a mobile event Wednesday, July 8th from 4:30pm until the food have been dispersed or 6pm, whichever comes first. The organizers are asking drivers to please enter through the north gate and remain in their cars as this is a mobile “drive-through” event.

Retirement Flag Journey

The city is holding a “Flag Retirement Journey” at the bridge for Humboldt High-school graduate and veteran Chief Master Sergean Lee W. Thul today, which started at 9am. This event is weather permitting and a proclamation from the Mayor is to follow the ceremony.

 

Chief Master Sergeant Lee W. Thul is the AF Cyberspace Support
(3D1XX) Air Force Career Field Manager (AFCFM), Readiness and
Talent Management Directorate, Deputy Chief of Staff for
Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Cyber
Effects Operations. He oversees five Air Force Specialty Codes and
works with/through 11 MAJCOM Functional Managers (MFM) on the
development, education, training, manpower, assignments, and
utilization for over 19,000 active duty, Guard and Reserve
cyberspace support personnel.

Chief Thul entered the Air Force in July of 1991 as a 304X0
Wideband Systems Maintenance Technician. He spent his first 14
years maintaining electronic security systems supporting the nuclear
enterprise before serving on a MAJCOM Inspector General team.
Chief Thul transitioned to First Sergeant duty in 2007 for two
assignments before returning to the communications career field in
2012. He has served in various leadership positions at squadron,
group, and MAJCOM levels. His assignments include bases in South Dakota, Germany, New Mexico,
North Dakota, Virginia, South Korea, and Illinois.
