Larson Resigns as County Zoning and Safety Officer, Among Others

Dakota City, Iowa — Monday morning the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors were informed that Emergency Management Director Melody Larson will resign from her role as County Zoning, Safety Officer, HIPAA and Environmental director, effective Immediately.

Larson will continue to serve in her capacity as the Emergency Management coordinator.

It comes as a bit of a surprise, as the supervisors — who dealt with the dismissal of Paul Jacobson — will again have to look for interim help before hiring a full-time person to work the aforementioned duties Larson resigned from.

I am frustrated with the lack of support given to me in these capacities” Larson said via letter to the board. “I feel as though [the] board has overlooked my job performance in an attempt to save the county money.”

Larson expounded by saying that she believes the board did this by placing the job title out at the County Engineers office.

Larson has served as the Emergency Management Director since 2016.

The board could not officially act on the matter until next week’s meeting. No names were announced in terms of an interim at this time.
