Washington D.C. — You weren’t alone in thinking it was a rainy May, as 2019’s May month in Iowa was the 4th wettest on record.

Average rainfall for the state in May is around 4.5 inches and this year it was at 8.2 inches. This mark has led to many parts of Iowa with flooding issues that have devastated the southwest region which in turn led Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) to add amendments to the disaster relief package to coverage crop loss from farmers.

The bill passed yesterday afternoon with a vote of 354-58 with all four Iowa representatives voting to approve it. President Trump will now be the deciding factor as it’ll be moved to his desk to be ratified which he is expected to sign. All 58 who voted against the bill were Republican.
