Humboldt County Salvation Army looking for volunteers

Humboldt, IA — The Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign is underway in Iowa.

Pat Hill, who heads the Salvation Army efforts in Humboldt County, says they need volunteers to help ring bells and collect donations at various businesses; primarily Fareway and Hy-Vee in Humboldt.

Donations help those less fortunate pay their electric and water bills, rent, and other forms of assistance. Hill says 90% of profits will stay in Humboldt County.

Bell ringers would work Monday through Saturday, ideally a two-hour shift sometime between 9 A.M. and 8 P.M. Major Jason Poff, who oversees the campaign in Des Moines, says to sign up, it’s fairly easy. Go to registertoring.com and “you can pick the location you want.” Then, Poff says, you’ll get a reminder on the day you signed up to ring.

Alternately, for those in Humboldt County, you can call 515-890-0656 to be a bell ringer. The Red Kettle Campaign runs through Christmas Eve.
