Humboldt schools in the dark on when parking lot lights will arrive

Humboldt, IA – The new Humboldt High School parking lot is patiently awaiting the arrival of the lights and security cameras.

During the most recent meeting of the Humboldt Community School District Board of Education Superintendent Jim Murray provided an update to the board about the high school parking lot. While the paving of the parking lot has been complete for a while the concern remains that there are no lights up yet. This is because the lights are on back order.

Murray says that lights could arrive any day now and that there isn’t any timeline on when they could arrive. He says “hopefully soon” they will be able to get them sooner rather than later. Once the lights go up security cameras will be added to each poll to provide a safer area for the students and school activities.

The superintendent says that the administration and school leadership “love” their new parking lot. He says that the parents continue to say how much the appreciate the new surface. He gives props to the previous administration who went through the process of assuring the work gets done and the project was lined up.

While the waiting for the lights drivers are encouraged to be careful while driving through the lot when it’s dark, especially after school events. Further details on when the lights will arrive and be installed with be reported when they are made available.
